Back up servers and files with rclone to ALTN S3 Print

  • 0

Before you start: log in to the client area, open your S3 Cloud Storage service and note the S3 endpoint, access key and secret key (click Reveal secret key). Create a bucket first in the web console at clouddrive.altnhosting.com.

Install rclone from rclone.org, then run rclone config and create a remote:

[altn]
type = s3
provider = Other
access_key_id = YOUR_ACCESS_KEY
secret_access_key = YOUR_SECRET_KEY
endpoint = YOUR_S3_ENDPOINT
acl = private

Test it with rclone lsd altn:, then back up a folder:

rclone sync /var/backups altn:company-backups/server1 --progress

Add the command to cron to run it every night. The same details work in Cyberduck, AWS CLI (--endpoint-url), Restic and other S3 tools.

Need help? Setup is free for S3 Cloud Storage customers — open a ticket and we will configure it with you.
