How to Order and Activate Your SSL Certificate Print

  • 0

This guide explains the complete process from ordering an SSL certificate at ALTN Hosting to having the padlock on your website.

Overview of the process

  1. Order & pay for your certificate.
  2. Open the configuration link we email you and enter your PIN.
  3. Submit a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) for your domain.
  4. Complete domain validation (and business verification for OV/EV).
  5. Install the issued certificate on your server.

Step 1 – Place your order

  1. Go to altnhosting.com/ssl-certificates and choose a brand tab (ClickSSL, EssentialSSL, PositiveSSL, RapidSSL, Thawte or Sectigo).
  2. Click Buy Now (1 year) or Buy 3 Years. New purchases get 10% off for 1 year, 15% for 2 years and 20% for 3 years – applied automatically.
  3. Enter the domain name the certificate is for (for a Wildcard, enter the main domain, e.g. example.com).
  4. Complete checkout and pay the invoice (UPI, bank transfer or online payment).

Step 2 – Open your configuration link

As soon as payment is received, your certificate order is created and you receive an email “Configure your SSL Certificate” containing:

  • a Configuration link, and
  • a PIN.

You can also find both any time in the Client Area → Services → your SSL certificate. Click Configure your SSL Certificate and enter the PIN.

Step 3 – Submit your CSR

Paste your CSR into the configuration page. If your website is hosted with us, see How to Generate a CSR in cPanel. If you are unsure, open a ticket and we will generate it for you.

Step 4 – Complete validation

Choose one validation method (Email, HTTP file or DNS CNAME) – see Completing Domain Validation (DCV) for Your SSL. DV certificates are usually issued within minutes after validation. OV/EV certificates also need business verification (1–7 working days).

Step 5 – Install the certificate

The certificate is emailed to the administrative contact and is also available in the configuration panel. Install it using How to Install Your SSL Certificate in cPanel (or the Apache/Nginx/IIS guide for other servers).

Hosted with ALTN Hosting? Just open a ticket in the Technical Support department – our team will generate the CSR, complete validation and install the certificate for you free of charge.
