Once your certificate is issued you will receive the certificate (CRT) and the CA bundle (intermediate certificates). Follow these steps to install it on your cPanel hosting.
Steps
- Log in to cPanel and open Security → SSL/TLS.
- Under Install and Manage SSL for your site (HTTPS), click Manage SSL sites.
- Select your domain from the Domain drop-down.
- Paste the contents of your certificate (the
.crtfile for your domain) into Certificate (CRT), including the-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----and-----END CERTIFICATE-----lines. - Click Autofill by Certificate. cPanel automatically finds the matching private key (created with your CSR) and usually the CA bundle.
- If the Certificate Authority Bundle (CABUNDLE) box is empty, paste the CA bundle / intermediate certificates you received.
- Click Install Certificate.
Check the installation
- Open
https://yourdomain.comand check the padlock in the address bar. - Use an online SSL checker (for example SSL Labs) to confirm the full chain is installed.
Next steps
Redirect all visitors to HTTPS – see How to Force HTTPS and Fix Mixed Content.
If cPanel says the private key is missing, the CSR was probably generated elsewhere. Generate a new CSR in cPanel and request a free reissue from the configuration page, or open a ticket and we will help.
Note: AutoSSL (free SSL) may already be active on your domain. Installing a paid certificate replaces it automatically; AutoSSL will not overwrite a valid paid certificate.
